Retirement is Squishy

As a mid-career doctor, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately about retirement. 100 years ago, retirement basically didn’t exist. You worked until you couldn’t work any longer and then your family took care of you for a year or two before you died. 50 years ago, there was this idea of retirement where you worked for the company for 30 or 40 years, then one day you went from full-time to not working at all, you got the gold watch, and you started golfing every day.
